Position Summary:

The Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and environmentally responsible loading and unloading of all truck and rail shipments within the Hunter Cement Plant Distribution area. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Is accountable for the safe performance of personnel and visitors within the distribution area and compliance with MSHA  requirements in distribution
• Participates in hiring , coaching , mentoring, discipline for distribution employees
• Supervise employees to maintain a clean and professional environment including clean and well stocked restrooms and break room facilities for employees, contract drivers and other visitors
• At all times , professionally and courteously communicates with  Sales, Production, QC and Technical Services as appropriate / required in order ensure timely and accurate shipments
• Troubleshoots and resolve delays in a timely manner
• Work with railroad for rail car distribution/supply/tracking and to minimize delays and demurrage
• Prepare timely and accurate shipping reports for Sales/Production
• Monitor finished product inventories and maintain accurate records of inventory levels.
• Responsible for acceptable housekeeping in the loading and shipping areas, including scales, cement silos, rail yard, office, truck/trailer parking area, truck loop and wash rack
• Perform other duties and special projects as required

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Demonstrated leadership ability , mentoring and counseling
• Must have minimum of 2 years’ experience in cement plant distribution operations where 24/7  high volume rail and truck loading systems are used  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience (5 years directly related minimum )  – related bachelor’s degree preferred
• Excellent communication skills and safety record
• Ability to professionally communicate with sales, customers and delivery/railroad personnel
• Ability to direct, motivate and coach activities of others in a team environment
• Minimum 5+ years in cement production and/or distribution of cement or other bulk products by truck and or rail
• Proficient – reading, writing (English) and math skills
• Thorough understanding of logistics related to truck and rail shipments
• Working knowledge of DOT & CDL regulations preferred
• Excellent work ethic – high standard of performance and production
• Ability to travel occasionally by automobile/plane
• Must be available to walk, crawl, kneel and climb ladders/stairs to inspect facilities and to observe/supervise work activities
• Must understand lock-out procedure and safety requirements


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Climb up to 60 feet above ground on ladders and catwalks
• Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day
• Must be available to walk, crawl, kneel and climb ladders/stairs to inspect facilities and to observe/supervise work activities
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
• Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others
• Capability of working for long periods of time in extreme heat and in dusty areas, confined spaces and heights
• Ability to climb stairs and work at heights (up to 350’)


WORKING CONDITIONS
Must work inside and outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, dust, and wet a minimum of 8 hrs. per day.  Work in high noise level areas while wearing proper PPE.
