Simon Contractors was founded nearly 50 years ago in 1954 by James E. Simon. In December, 1994, the growth, diversity and quality work of Simon Contractors got the attention of Colas and they acquired Simon Contractors.

In March 2015, Simon Contractors acquired Hills Materials in Rapid City, SD. Under Simon Contractors, Hills Materials has continued to flourish as a n asphalt paving and concrete products contractor and supplier in the Rapid City area and across the state of South Dakota.

 

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of:

 

FLAGGER

Summary: Controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

 Discusses traffic routing plans, and type and location of control points with superior.

Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern.

Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand, and flag signals.

Warns construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers.

Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites.

Records license number of traffic control violators for police.

Gives hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for Flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic.

Requirements: 

Prior flagging/traffic control experience preferred.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving history required.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
