JOB DESCRIPTION:

Member of the Accounting & Finance Team supporting the Company’s profit and operational efficiency goals by managing and developing improvements to the Company’s financial reporting, modeling, forecasting, treasury, and regulatory compliance processes. Assisting the Accounting Manager with general ledger management, financial reporting & analysis, tax compliance, treasury management, and potentially supervisoring or leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the management & supervision of the Accounting Team
  • Assists in management of the month-end close process, financial reporting, tax compliance, company budgeting & forecasting, and treasury
  • Assists in management of the month-end close process in an accurate, independent, and highly organized manner complete with account reconciliations that clearly identify and resolve reconciling items, within the first (15) fifteen days
  • Recommends and independently implements optimization opportunities for the month-end close process and continuously review this process for additional efficiencies
  • Assists in management of the month-end financial reporting and (KPI) key performance indicators scorecards process to ensure the Executive Team and Business Unit Managers have timely information with which to make business decisions, within the first (15) fifteen days
  • Partners with the Accounting Manager (Controller) to develop methods of streamlining, automating, and distributing these critical month-end reports
  • Assists in maintenance and management of tax compliance reporting, e.g. NC sales and use (monthly), property taxes (annually), City of Charlotte (various), 401(k), and payroll taxes
  • Assists in management of the company budget and forecasting
  • Owns the treasury management function, including developing, maintaining, and optimizing current cash reporting and cash forecast models
  • Performs internal audits of general ledger activity and internal control processes
  • Partners with the Accounting Manager to provide tailored solutions to numerous challenges the Company regularly encounters, grounded in solid business best practices
  • Develops into a backup to the Accounting Manager through demonstrating leadership of the Accounting Team when the Accounting Manager is out of the office, including having the confidence to independently make decisions, delegate tasks, and mentor staff
  • Independently and timely performs non-recurring, one-off projects and other analyses, as delegated by the Accounting Manager
  • Provides 401(k) plan administration assistance
  • Maintains accurate monthly records for fixed assets, depreciation, etc.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience
  • Knowledge & application of GAAP
  • Thoroughly organized, paired with ability to work independently
  • ERP/MRP software experience (i.e. Servman or any others)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications, especially Excel
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in the English language

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior Accounting experience in service sector business
  • CPA or MBA
  • Prior Supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with payroll software
