Summary of Position:          

Research potential projects and prepare and/or direct preparation of all prequalification responses, proposals, estimates, and bids.

Key Activities:

ASI’s Estimator will be responsible for the following Estimating Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Attending pre-bid meetings;
  • Determine scope of work and required contents of estimate;
  • Pre-bid planning/organization;
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings;
  • Establish materials needs;
  • Establish subcontract scopes;
  • Perform detailed quantity take offs for self-performed work scopes;
  • Create detailed estimate preparation in HCSS;
  • Adjust rates for labor, burden, and equipment;
  • Manage material quotes;
  • Manage subcontract quotes/proposals;
  • Prepare a project CPM schedule using P6;
  • Manage/anticipate last minute adds/cuts from vendors/subcontractors;
  • Complete bid documents as needed;
  • Participate in estimate turnover to Operations Team;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/training required:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management is preferred.  Equivalent combination of experience, training, and education will be evaluated.  Experience with earthwork operations, structural and roller-compacted concrete experience, aggregate production, or water resource construction is preferred.

Applicant should have some working knowledge of HCSS/Heavy Bid and Microsoft Office Programs (particularly Microsoft Excel), and Primavera Scheduling Software.  AutoCAD/AGTEK experience is highly desired.  Applicant should be well organized.  Good communication/people skills are required.
