We are currently seeking an experienced cement pump truck operator for various projects on Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. (Tropical Island in the South Pacific.) You will be working overseas for San Juan Construction in partnership with the US government.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Dives and operates the Boom/Pump Truck hauling concrete from batch plant to project sites; operating boom to disperse concrete at site, cleaning and maintaining of truck and all mechanical parts. All work to be performed in a safe and professional manner.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1. Performs pre-operation and post-operation inspection of the equipment, and ensures all maintenance standards are met (i.e. air brakes, oil, water, tire inflation, proper lighting, safety kit, windows, and lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean). Maintain vehicle is a clean, organized and safe manner.
  2. Safely and productively operates pump truck including: monitoring controls, setting outriggers and using proper techniques.
  3. Monitors and visually inspect mix for proper materials, verify load size to ticket, check for proper slump and adjust accordingly.
  4. Achieves maximum productivity by meeting and/or exceeding established productivity standards.
  5. Adheres to all safety and company standards and rules to include hard hat and safety vest use as directed. Ensures all safety rules are adhered to by co-workers and customers, and reports any safety violations to supervisor.
  6. Continuously monitors the equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal down time. Routinely connect multiple hoses & pipes using hand tools. Cleans hopper, hoses, pumping equipment, tracks or wheels on equipment.
  7. Position tubes and pipes so concrete is discharged in desired locations.
  8. Dispose of excess concrete in environmentally safe manner.
  9. Performs and documents minor service on equipment, and performs and documents a post-trip/post-use inspection of the equipment.
  10. Completes Equipment Condition Report and reports any necessary repairs to supervisor and/or Maintenance Shop. Completes other required forms.
  11. Ensures that equipment is properly cleaned, serviced and stored at the end of each shift.
  12. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE

Educational and experience preferences: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years’ experience operating concrete pump truck as well as duties described above and/or equivalent combination of experience and technical training or apprenticeship program. Willingness and ability to perform light maintenance on assigned truck. Ability to navigate pedals, buttons and levers while monitoring gauges & being communicated to via hand signals.

Workers should be able to: Read engineering drawing; practice good safety habits; work in dusty or dirty surroundings; follow instructions and meet set standards; judge distances and slopes accurately; and make decisions based on verifiable standards.  Physically, workers must be able to:  Stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms, legs fully; see well (either naturally or with correction); and lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
