JOB TITLE: BIM Engineer
MAJOR GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Building Information Modeling (BIM) services on Tarlton’s projects. Tarlton executes a wide range of projects and the BIM services required differ from project to project. The BIM Engineer will work directly with the project team to execute the required BIM services providing the maximum value to the project.
In addition to BIM, this position will assist with additional technology implementations and applications within operations for Tarlton. Examples include laser scanning, BIM based layout, and mobility solutions.
ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:
- Create BIMs for concrete projects during estimating to assist with quantity verification and visualization of project scope.
- Create BIMs for concrete projects during construction to a fabrication level of detail including formwork, embeds, blockouts, and construction sequencing.
- Create concrete lift drawings from the fabrication BIMs for use by the crews in the field.
- Manage the BIM coordination process for construction management projects including performing clash detection, reporting, and verification of clash resolution.
- Perform 4D scheduling on select projects
- Create logistic plans and phasing plans on select projects
- Facilitate and assist project teams with use of BIM on all Tarlton projects.
- Maintain corporate BIM files for projects, interact/coordinate information with field layout foreman and project teams.
- Assist with technology implementations for operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. If required, the employee may be located in a trailer at a jobsite location or maintain an office at the Owner’s facility.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Very limited exposure to physical risk.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop and kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high and/or precarious places and outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet.

PREREQUISITES (I.E. Education/Experience):
- Associate Engineering/architectural or construction management/technology degree is preferred.
- At least two years of construction industry experience required.
- Strong reporting, documentation and presentation skills.
- Must have general and practical construction knowledge and experience.
- Fluent in the use of Primavera, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and familiar with toher BIM software packages.
