Job Statement:

Responsible to secure profitable work for energy design-build projects.  Responsible to achieve budgeted sales and profit.  Focus on targeting projects with better than average margin potential and conducting sales activities to achieve results.  Targeted work will also include projects with excellent long term service potential.  Assist other departments on strategic team sales.  Develop solutions for clients to help them solve their business goals.  Develop target accounts, which maximize a bundle of SmartEdge products and services. 

Essential/Critical Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Promote Energy Design-Build solutions. Continuously identify solutions that will promote SmartEdge as the preferred source.  Identify products SmartEdge can furnish for a total solution.
  • Achieve budgeted bookings and gross margin dollars.
  • Develop sales goals and assist in developing budgets for the fiscal year.
  • Develop estimates for bids, quotes & budgets.
  • Work with Mechanical and Electrical Contractors to develop & book Design Build projects.
  • Monitor financial status (project profitability, change orders & cash flow) of all sold work-in-progress.
  • Maintain Bid tracking system (B&B) weekly.
  • Follow company guidelines for margin levels. Obtain approvals per company guidelines.
  • Participate in monthly project review meetings.
  • Develop target prospects & focus activities on targets.
  • Participate in quarterly sales meetings. Provide monthly presentation per the agenda.
  • Review McGraw Hill and Contract Reporter daily to qualify projects and establish targets.
  • Participate in trade shows as required.
  • Participate in sales calls with other SmartEdge sales representatives.
  • Join & participate in trade associations such as ASHRAE, BOMA, etc.
  • Develop targeted project early during the planning stage. Focus on selling to owner and end user.
  • Develop leads for potential new energy design build work. Maintain regular contact with current and potential clients.
  • Prepare design documents including engineering drawings and details utilizing support staff and A/E firms
  • Coordinate design assistance with supporting A/E firms and internal engineers.
  • Manage the design approval process with AHJ.
  • Assist with implementing strategic plan for design build services.
  • Promote all other SmartEdge products & services to develop leads generated by other SmartEdge sales representatives.
  • Must have knowledge and skill requirements of SmartEdge policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant rebates & incentives.
  • Report all assets status on our Asset Tracker system monthly.
  • Assist with collections when requested.
  • Conduct job-site visits.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience with HVAC systems and related controls extremely beneficial.
  • Previous experience in the negotiated market very important, including 5 years technical sales experience.
  • AAS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or engineering management.
  • Strong sales and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of DDC & controls fundamentals.
  • Negotiated sales at expert level.
  • Plan and spec fundamentals at the intermediate level.
  • Fundamentals of guaranteed energy projects.
  • Fundamentals of SmartEdge Service Agreements.
