Position: Electrical Engineer/Designer - Junior Level

Description:
The person in this position will be responsible for the engineering and design of building electrical systems (lighting, power, and limited special systems) specifically within the healthcare, educational and commercial building vertical sectors, and may assist in hospitality/resort and high-end residential verticals. This individual will be supervised by a licensed electrical engineer. Integration and participation with BGCE electrical team is expected, and will be asked to assist in standards development. Candidates must be able to create task lists and manage workload with minimal oversight. Travel will be required as project needs demand. The best candidates will have knowledge of NEC, IBC, IRC, IECC, IFC, NFPA 72, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, NFPA 110, other applicable building codes, and local jurisdictional requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Client Success: Provide services that allow our clients to be successful and to retain BGCE as their engineer of choice.
- Provide engineering and design for building electrical systems, including calculations, schematics, layouts, detailing and diagramming, and specifications.
- Assist in the electrical coordination of the project with jurisdictional officials, utility and service providers, and other outside agencies.
- Assist in project management and project coordination activities as assigned by the Project Manager.
- Assist in business development, marketing and client relations activities.
- Participate in electrical team standards development and training activities.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Education:
BSARE or BSEE from an ABET-accredited program required.
Registrations:
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Mexico required. LEED™ Accredited Professional registration preferred. RCDD, CTS(-D), and PSP credentials a plus.
Experience:
2+ years required. Experience must be directly related to design and engineering of building electrical systems – candidates with unrelated experience will not be considered. Active and direct use of Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit required. Active and direct use of lighting software (Visual, AGI32, elumtools, etc.) and power analysis software (SKM PowerTools, etc.) highly preferred.
