Key Activities and Position Responsibilities:

  • Operate crane to lift and move materials and other objects, plan all lifts, use capacity charts, perform rigging inspection and daily crane inspection, respond according to hand and/or verbal instructions, observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property, listen to warning alarms and respond accordingly, and read boom angle and drum rotation indicators;
  • Must provide proof of a current physical fitness examination completed by a medical doctor;
  • Must be able to read the operators manual and sign off that the manual has been read and understood;
  • Ultimate responsible person during crane or hoisting operations to ensure the pick is safe;
  • Must be able to see and understand crane signals;
  • Must be able to perform daily inspections and report the findings using effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, and ladders;
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with crane control functions.

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

The preferred applicant will have 5 – 10 years of experience on Heavy Civil Construction Projects. Must possess a valid NCCCO permit or other authorized operator permit.  Must be authorized through one of the following: Certification through an accredited third-party testing organization; Qualification through an audited employer testing program; or Qualification by a state or local licensing authority.  TLL certified.

Only a valid, current crane operator certification card from an accredited certifying agency will be accepted. Must possess a valid medical card.

Salary Range:

$37.95/hour, $300/week Subsistence
