Job Description:

The controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, and financial reporting;
  • Develops and maintains all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensures that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Responsible for oversight of payroll and benefits management;Works collaboratively with external consulting resources including Contracts, Information Technology, Corporate Accounting, Legal and Finance.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial information to the President, Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Accounting or finance or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Finance
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience as a Controller with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit and collections, and finance. Preferable annual sales of 5 million to 10 million
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated account systems, well developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage microcomputer operation and applications 
  • Sound administrative skills. Well-developed leadership and management skills-principle and people
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strengths with profitability and growth
