In March 2015, Simon Contractors acquired Hills Materials in Rapid City, SD. Under Simon Contractors, Hills Materials has continued to flourish as a n asphalt paving and concrete products contractor and supplier in the Rapid City area and across the state of South Dakota.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
CONCRETE PLANT OPERATOR

Summary: Operates and maintains concrete plant, takes and schedules orders for customers, orders materials, and monitors material usage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Maintain a safe working environment for all activities onsite; continually inspects work site surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Take and schedule orders for customers.
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, plant, and employees.
Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
Orders required material in advanced to complete assigned task based on construction schedule as provided by construction superintendent and/or project manager
Maintains yard logs and assists area manager with plant log.
Recommends budget to management.
Adjusts controls to regulate the flow of materials and maintains the speed of systems.
Ensures that the plant is operating in accordance with all applicable regulations
Performs repairs on compressors, motors, belts, and preventative maintenance such as greasing and corrosion control
Coordinates with construction superintendent/project managers with trucks and outside hires and collects outside truck timecards
Ensures accurate quantities are coded to the correct job and phase codes
Operates concrete plant to batch materials used in construction.
Observes gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
May repair machinery, using handtools, power tools, and welding equipment.
Performs lubrication on plant and checks machine fluids daily.
Cleans plugged conveyors and hoppers when needed.
Requirements:
Two years related experience required.
Ability to be QA/QC State Certified
Valid Class A or B Driver's License and clean driving history
ASE and MSHA Certified preferred
May supervise up to ten employees
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell.
