ACA Specialist Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY:


This position is responsible for the day-to-day processing of the employee level health panel entries of applicable Affordable Care Act (ACA) data. The position assists in the process as a resource for the HR Benefits administrator and employees to help resolve issues and review data with a high level of customer service and analytical abilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Responsible for day-to-day entries to ensure compliance with ACA regulations.
• Assists the team in conducting detailed research and data analysis on various plan and employee issues. Facilitates problem escalations and either resolves them or escalates them to the appropriate level for resolution.
• Assists with information gathering for annual filings, measurement period, eligibility determination, compliance testing, government filings, and other duties related to the health and welfare plan administration.
• Accumulates, tracks and analyzes weekly workforce data to ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act and reports findings to Management.
• Assists Benefits department with maintenance and tracking of all legally required documentation in accordance with IRS/DOL requirements, including timely distribution to employees.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
• Affordable Care Act experience
• Analytical and reporting experience
• Benefit plan knowledge.
• HRIS and Payroll system knowledge.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


• High School Diploma or G.E.D.


OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access).
• Self-starter, with excellent time management skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; is relentless in his or her ability to follow through and see projects through completion.
• Demonstrates respect for employees at all levels of the organization by responding quickly and appropriately to their requests for assistance.
• Ability to interpret, evaluate and communicate detailed information.
• Demonstrates strong ethics and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
