Company Introduction:

ASCO, a privately owned and independent Belgian company, began operations as a private subcontractor in 1954. The aeronautics division started in 1979 and is currently the only group activity. Position Summary

Purpose of the Job

This position Performs engineering work related to the design of tools and equipment used in the manufacture and support of aerospace parts.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, design, tolerance and annotate tooling in 3D CAD environment that will be used in the manufacture and support of manufacturing parts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations to determine optimal manufacturing procedures.
  • Specify and order raw material for fixtures.
  • Review and check Tool Designs, as required, to ensure conformance to specifications, intent, methods and procedures.
  • Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements.
  • Assist Tool shop as needed, during Periodic and Conformity Inspections.
  • Assist in formulating Tool Design policies, procedures, and specifications as required.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Experience:

Three (3) years of drafting/design experience to include documented experience in a tool shop or machine shop environment.
Three (3) years Tool Design experience.
One (1) year CAD/CATIA experience, preferred.

Skills:

  • Must possess strong CAD/CATIA modeling skills and have a clear understanding of GD&T.
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of materials, material strengths, heat treat method and uses.
  • Must have the ability to conceptualize assembly tooling and machine tooling with minimum supervision.
  • Must have good English verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team-based environment.
  • Must be well-versed in advanced manufacturing techniques (5-axis machining, EDM, VTL, CNC lathe/mill)
  • Must be able to understand and interpret complex blueprints, customer specifications, and engineering sketches.
  • Must possess the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient in the use Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or equivalent software. Must be computer literate.
  • Must be currently eligible/authorized to work in the United States.
