Position: Commissioning Agent

Description: BG has an opportunity for a mid-level Commissioning Agent in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This growing office is located in the Denver West Office Park, situated between downtown Denver and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This individual will be a valued part of a specialized team that provides commissioning services for hospitality, educational, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings. The perfect candidate will enjoy travel and be able to commit to supporting our clients’ schedules.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Must be able to conduct pre-functional and functional tests, create start-up check lists, review construction documents, analyze mechanical systems, and have experience in using field testing equipment.
- Complete proposals for commissioning, retro-commissioning and LEED commissioning services
- Perform field site visits to identify discrepancies between the design documents and the installed systems.
- Develop functional testing procedures for commissioning projects using design documents, equipment and control drawings.
- Perform functional testing of equipment with the contracting team for the commissioned systems which include, but are not limited to, the mechanical contractor, electrical contractor, plumbing contractor, controls contractor, and fire protection contractor.
- Complete a commissioning plan for commissioning projects.
- Perform submittal review and design drawing review with comments.
- Conduct and attend commissioning meetings for projects.
- Coordinate Test & Balance Activities with contracting teams.
- Review Test & Balance reports.
- Generation of systems manual.
- Documentation of commissioning activities in final commissioning report.
- Witness and document systems start-up and systems training.
- Review design documentation at all stages of the design process.
- Assist with general company and project marketing activities.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Have a passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process.
- Ability to create positive working relationships with all parties involved.
- Capable of giving constructive feedback while also being able to actively listen to issues when they arise.
- Communicate ideas through structured message development and story lines, in multiple media types
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred, but not required.
Registrations: Commissioning certification is preferred but not required.
Experience: 5+ years’ commissioning and retro-commissioning experience required in commercial construction, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and/or HVAC systems. Experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls).
