BUCKEYE RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE 

GIS Operator

Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for an open Geographic Information Systems Operator position. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the activities of the Cooperative's geographic information system. Among other duties, this includes ensuring the electrical system model, database, connectivity, and geographic base map are accurate and current and optimizing field and departmental GIS applications to meet the Cooperative's needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of the GIS Operator is to deliver and update a full-process mapping solution that will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient utility operations both daily and during emergencies. Other duties will include support for the Operations department to include safety record-keeping for such items as Personal Protective Equipment, PCB hazards, and fleet maintenance. The individual in this position will interact with all departments and will help the Cooperative maintain compliance in a number of areas.

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

Interested candidates must have a minimum of an Associate's Degree in GIS, Cartography, Computer Science, or a related computer-aided design field; or a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Since its incorporation in 1938, under the Rural Electrification Administration Act, Buckeye REC has proudly provided electric utility service to the community it serves.

As a member owned company, Buckeye REC has provided electricity to homes, farms, and businesses in the scenic southeastern area of the state. Buckeye REC serves consumers in parts of nine counties: Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Vinton. The Cooperative is headquartered at 4848 St. Rt. 325 South outside Rio Grande, Ohio.
