COMMERCIAL-INDUSTRIAL SERVICES ELECTRICIAN

 A senior electrical service tech accustomed to working with apprentice performing small to medium sized service projects at commercial/industrial end user facilities.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provides troubleshooting techniques and facilitates repairs of faulty equipment or systems.
  • Possesses a working understanding of blue print reading and how it pertains to his/her specific job/project responsibilities.
  • Possesses the ability to provide field documentation (may include redline documentation) of As-Built documents for his/her work.
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring/raceway are installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Fabricates support items for conduits, transformers, panelboards, disconnect switches and related items as needed for the project.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit including EMT, GRC, PVC Coated GRC, PVC and Aluminum.
  • Measures distance of, acquires, receives, stages as well as pre-plans the installation of placing the wiring through conduit for feeders, home runs and branch circuits etc.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape, terminal devices or wire nuts.
  • Completes terminations of wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, transformers, RPP(s) units and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment such as PDU’s, electric appliances, motors, lighting equipment and installs grounding leads and terminations.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Provides trouble shooting techniques as warranted and facilitates repairs of faulty equipment or systems.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to correctly identify colors of wires for installation practices & safety purposes.

Job Requirements

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Completion of Accredited Apprenticeship program or approved acceptable equivalent training.
  • General working knowledge of business computer skills (MS Word, typing skills, laptop computer or Tablet)
  • Employment at CESG is contingent on the completion and satisfactory results of a drug test and background check.

Qualifications, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician the State of Texas and in cities as required.
  • Electrician level determined by proficiency with skills identified in skill matrix section. (Below)
  • Employee shall possess a professional representation while interacting with customers and office personnel.

Preferred Skills

  • Full working knowledge of Electrician hand tools.
  • Full working knowledge of Manual and or Hydraulic Knock out set.
  • Full Working knowledge of Powered conduit bending equipment.
  • Full working knowledge of current measuring devices, i.e.: (Amprobe device)
  • Full working knowledge of voltage measuring devices, i.e.: Digital VOM, Wiggy etc.
  • Business environment communications skills.

CESG, LLC. Employees

  •  Employees are direct job site report as per dispatcher / supervisor’s scheduling, unless directed otherwise optionally.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • Employees can be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be or is usually loud.
  • Employees are to have a working knowledge of CESG, LLC.’s safety manual, policies and standards.
  • Employees are to have a working understanding of NFPA 70E Standards for Electrical Safety on the workplace and how this is to be practiced by the individual while commencing work task.
  • While operating any company vehicle all Employees are to demonstrate and adhere to “Safe Driving Practices for Employees” as published by OSHA document (OSHA 3314-08N-06) additional guidelines may be required by the CESG, LLC. Safety Department or Direct supervisor.
  • Employees are to have a working knowledge of OSHA’s Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146) as it pertains to potential work location(s) environment’s and the need for full compliance.
  • CESG, LLC. Employees are to have been trained and have a documentation card confirming training for specialty equipment such as man-lifts, fork-lifts and related equipment if this equipment is required for a job/ project.
  • Employees are required to understand the “Hot Work” permit process and Manual of Procedures (MOP) guidelines typically encountered in highly sensitive environments of customer locations. Example: Banking facilities, Data Centers, Telco equipment locations.
  • Employees may be subject to a background check prior to be granted access to some customer facilities.

Skill Matrix

 Level I –

  • Capable of estimating small projects.
  • Able to supervise an apprentice in training.
  • Competent in all residential and small commercial wiring methods and practices.
  • Can troubleshoot or wire most motor circuits, transformers, feeder circuits, grounding and bonding principals etc.
  • Must possess a State of Texas Journey’s license and (2-5) years of service experience.

Level II –

  • Fully meets all requirements of a Level I Electrician
  • Capable of troubleshooting electrical systems, control systems
  • Repairing and estimating larger jobs. 
  • Proficient in most areas of electrical service and all CESG, LLC. processes. 
  • Able to wire and connect, transformers, control relays, limit switch, magnetic starter etc. 
  • Needs minimum supervision. State of Texas Journeyman's license or Masters License with 5+ years of electrical service experience.

Level III –

  • Fully meets all requirements of a Level II Electrician
  • A recognized specialist or expert in some area of electrical service such as: PLC's, Premier Residential Service, High Voltage, Motor Controls, Lighting and Electrical System Integrity Technical Support etc...) 
  • Self-sufficient, able to direct a team of electricians.  (1 - 5 men)
  • State of Texas Journeyman's license or Masters License, with 7+ years of electrical service experience.
