 JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager of Business Development is the company leader in building market position through locating, developing, negotiating, and closing business relationships. The end state is to align ICI’s business units to leverage information and relationships that secure the most profitable accounts and opportunities.  The Manager of BD will be expected to participate in various staff meetings, actively identify and pursue new business opportunities, contribute ideas to the overall management and well-being of the company, and consistently identify and implement new ways to improve the quality of ICI’s work and job satisfaction for our team.  This position maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and Execute Business Development Strategy – Provides strategic direction, planning, and execution that drive profitable growth opportunities to the organization.
    1. Works with internal Team to establish understanding of what will allow the company to maximize margin potential.
    2. Works closely with Regional Leadership to assess and align business growth requirements and implementation capabilities.
    3. Identifies and reports on potential new customers and new opportunities.
    4. Networks and researches through all available avenues in order to uncover market trends, to collect opportunity leads, and observe developing trends. 
  1. Account Management – Maintains a schedule of accountability for key accounts.
    1. Tracks and reports status updates on a regular basis.
    2. Initiates the advancement of projects that are appropriate fit for the company.
    3. Leverages networks, cold calls, and other means of advertising to generate interest from potential customers.
    4. Identifies key decision makers / procurement personnel within customers’ organizations.
    5. Arranges meetings and discussions between customers and company’s estimating, planning, and project leaders. 
  1. Business Development Planning – Remains up-to-date with industry standards and trends and relates viable information with other Team members.
    1. Attends industry functions, conferences, and expos in order to provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
    2. Presents to and consults with Team on industry trends with a view to develop new services, products, and distribution channels.
    3. Identifies opportunities for campaigns and promotions to increase company name recognition to aid in increase of sales.
    4. Uses knowledge of market and competitors to maintain the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators. 
  1. Management and Research – Forecasts realistic sales targets and ensures team is informed and focused on these targets.
    1. Communicates through written reports, verbal updates, and schedules, the current status of the markets, competition, opportunities, and the overall sales outlook.
    2. Manages the Maintenance Service Agreements (MSA) and the Prequalification processes by coordinating with ICI’s Management Team ensuring timely, accurate prequalification requirements are met.
    3. Presents business development training and mentoring to ICI team members.
    4. Understands the company’s goals and purposes to enhance performance, presence, and production.
    5. Networks with APi Group Inc. and industry business development leaders to identify best practices, creating proposal opportunities for ICI.

  • Possesses valid driver license and a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% which may include overnights.

EDUCATION: High school graduate.  Minimum five years relevant business development, sales, or marketing experience required in the construction, or a related industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Physical:

  • Constant sitting to standing and returning to sitting positions, primarily in an office environment.
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies, marketing tools, and conference displays.

Mental:  

  • Constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and accuracy required in performing daily office related tasks, while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Must be able to plan/organize work in order to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to read and understand information provided and understand directions given.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in order to deal with customers, coworkers/staff, and vendors.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors.
  • Working schedule may vary depending on Business Development activities that may require evening and weekend social events with prospective customers.
