Fire Protection - Project Manager/Designer

The Project Manager/Designer – Fire Protection must have experience with fire protection projects.  This person is responsible for the design and execution of sprinkler projects throughout the Wichita area and over seeing those projects to ensure safe, on time completion within or under budget for commercial and industrial buildings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Estimate large and small projects for both negotiated and contract work
  • Review construction contract documents and coordinate with General Contractor to ensure project design
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract
  • Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes and other regulations
  • Document all correspondence related to projects
  • Provide oversight, ownership and leadership on multiple projects
  • Create detailed drawings using AutoCAD, SprinkCAD and HyroCAD type programs
  • Perform hydraulic calculations
  • Participate in major vendor negotiations and seek out competitive vendors and services to obtain the best price and delivery schedule
  • Price, negotiate and process change orders
  • Responsible for budget analysis reports, cost and revenue projections, work progress and scheduling reports
  • Create and monitor project billings for accuracy to ensure a positive cash flow
  • Develop and nurture customer relationships
  • Consistently provide customers with all job related information regarding status of projects
  • Manage field labor force to assure maximum productivity
  • Track and approve field labor force hours and crew mix rates for all projects

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or construction engineering or equivalent experience, required
  • Three to five years fire protection experience, required.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience, required
  • Building and construction knowledge
  • Must have excellent management and interpersonal skills
  • NICET III or IV certification required
  • Strong customer service orientation is required
  • Administrative, phone, and computer skills are required for this role
  • Union experience, preferred
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme temperatures.
