CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: Environmental Scientist / CAD
Description
The Staff Scientist/CAD serves a dual role of providing CAD services in the office, including preparing site plans and report figures in CAD, as well as supporting the work of the Project Teams by performing tasks including field sampling, data compilation, assisting with report preparation, and other related work that the Staff Scientist is trained to complete.
Essential Duties
- Assist with and/or perform field activities that may include groundwater sampling, soil sampling, vapor intrusion air sampling, well installation, soil borings, potable well surveys, aquifer testing, and pilot testing.
- Prepare CAD drawings, including site plans, system design and as-built drawings and other environmental report figures in CAD.
- Prepare data tables and report figures.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance in report preparation and deliverables.
- Apply and coordinate appropriate permits for remediation systems, assessment activities, and construction activities.
- Track remediation system performance.
- Prepare Health & Safety Plans.
- Prepare work orders and effectively coordinate field activities.
- Ensure quality, accuracy and completeness of project deliverables.
- Complete work in accordance with project deadlines and budgets.
- Maintain effective communication with Project Teams and Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications / Experience
- 1-2 years of CAD Technician experience preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD LT 2014) required.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (+, -, x, /) and unit conversions.
- OSHA 40 certification and TWIC card preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects and priorities on an ongoing basis.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work at various job sites, located indoors and outdoors, including oil refineries, active gas stations, abandoned warehouses, industrial manufacturing facilities, confined space locations, excavation sites, etc. Safety equipment will be provided as needed for each site, which may include respirators. This role may also be subjected to varying, and sometimes extreme, hot and cold temperatures due to changes in outdoor weather.
