Job Description:
The candidate should be experienced and capable of proactively maintaining and improving the security posture of the OFDA network. The responsibilities will include;
- Assessing vulnerabilities using security tools that map and scan network resources.
- Research, identify, and mitigate emerging security threats through the use of agency notifications, vendor updates, and security community engagement.
- Review firewall access control lists, and recommend enhancements to improve security.
- Identify, respond to, resolve, and document security incidents according to process.
- Respond to agency initiatives, ensuring that the office is responsive to initiatives from USAID as well as other applicable agencies.
- Proactively develop processes and procedures that improve OFDA’s security posture.
- Work with other team members to take action on a variety of systems and infrastructure, including servers, workstations, switches and routers, as well as appliance based infrastructure.
- Work with various data sources to consolidate information into easy to use datasets that can be used to assess vulnerabilities.
- Ongoing assessments to determine where security gaps exist, as well as the recommendations to remediate them.
The candidate should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills directed at an audience with a wide range of technical ability. It is expected that the candidate will be able to identify, as well as mitigate security problems, as this is a hands on position.
Tools: Nessus, Ncircle, Wireshark, Nmap, LAN sweeper, SCCM, McAfee EPO, Splunk, Solar winds, Active Directory group policy, Windows server 2008-2012, Windows 7.
Perform duty officer responsibility once every four to five months for a week, which requires 24/7 availability for customer support.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in an operational security capacity.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of TCP/IP and network communications.
- Demonstrate a strategy for protecting OFDA’s infrastructure using a range of tools from inside and outside the network.
- Active secret level clearance is strongly preferred. Being able to achieve and maintain a secret clearance is required.
