Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Sales Engineer is to assist the Sales team in bringing Dexter & Chaney, LLC (“Dexter + Chaney”) Spectrum Construction Software to market.  By coupling his/her solid understanding of the technology and the application of the technology to the construction market, the Sales Engineer is able to advance sales opportunities and influence the distribution channel to invest and engage in selling Dexter + Chaney solutions.  His/her mission is to show the prospect, customer, or distributor how Spectrum can be applied to solve real world problems. 

First and foremost, the Sales Engineer supports the Sales team to facilitate the sales of Dexter + Chaney solutions and services to achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets. 

Longer term activities are built around execution of a defined “go to market strategy” as defined by Dexter + Chaney. This includes, but is not limited to end user demonstrations (often with distributor involvement and support), distributor training, and participation in local events such as trade shows, road shows, and user group meetings. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in achievement of overall revenue targets for the team.
  • Promote Spectrum product sales to include:
    • Assistance in key customer demonstrations and presentations.
    • Participation and assistance in trade shows, road shows and user group events.
  • Develop distributor / dealer sales and technical support personnel competency to demonstrate, sell, and support new technology products. This includes:
    • Providing structured and informal training on products, technology, and application of technology.
    • Assistance in preparation of documents and specifications.
    • Recommendations as needed on product configurations and options as required to suit customer needs and applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge on the latest Dexter + Chaney technology; proactively seek out training to ensure “early adopter” knowledge.
  • Be current on competitor manufacturer product offerings (features, benefits and customer interest in these products) in the region, report information internally together with recommendations as required.
  • Respond to escalated technical issues about key or priority customers to ensure sales closure.
  • Have excellent verbal as well as written communication skills and the ability to articulate Dexter + Chaney’s strategy as well as Dexter + Chaney’s value proposition.
  • The Sales Engineer represents the highest level of technical knowledge available in the sales organization.
  • Apply experience with solution-based approach to solving customer requirements and an understanding of complex sales cycles and decision processes.
  • Interact with our cross-functional internal teams to create winning project proposals.
  • Input and mine CRM data.

 

Key Interfaces:

  • Primary interfaces outside of Dexter + Chaney are customers/prospects and distributors/sales partners.
  • Primary interfaces within Dexter + Chaney are the Sales team, Marketing team, and Product Management/Development team.

  • High level technical expertise
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work autonomously and follow-through with plans
  • Ability and motivation to quickly learn and integrate new technologies and help bring them to market
  • Strong presentation skills (for both sales & training)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • 4 year college degree with a demonstrated ability to learn and apply technology
  • 5 years’ experience in enterprise software
  • Applicant must live in a location that is conducive to travel and support within the defined territory
  • Applicant will be expected to travel approximately 75% of the time
