We currently have a great assignment for an Electrical Engineer with one of our top clients. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be supporting our client, a full-service architectural and engineering firm offering strong experience in four sectors: healthcare, government, commercial, and energy/facility management.

Job Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering and design for building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, and low voltage systems for large government and commercial facilities including office buildings, hospitals, and other projects.

  • Performing electrical calculations and design for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for various projects.
  • Coordinating and conducting pre-design duties and services to site and building analysis, project cost feasibility, planning and zoning regulations, and field verification of existing conditions.
  • Conducting schematic designs, design development, reviewing construction costs, and have a thorough understanding of applicable codes and regulations.
  • Performing project coordination/management duties and services including managing project file sharing and access with all team members and active participation in team meetings and coordinating and submitting documents and other information to clients.
  • Leading quality review duties and services, including but not limited to completing quality control and/or quality assurance checklists.
  • Reviewing and responding to submittals and Requests for Information (RFI’s), performing adequate site observation, and coordinating final punch list documentation.
  • Engaging in daily business and development activities including scope definition, proposal and request for proposal (RFP) writing, formulating proposals, and initiating and modifying project management standards to exceed project requirements, etc.
  • Performing daily staffing duties, project planning, and monitoring team performance to assure compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Working with designers on multiple projects guiding, training, and providing direction.
  • Reviewing designs and coordinating with plumbing and mechanical engineers.
  • Working with project managers to maintain schedule and coordination of systems.
  • Attending meetings with architects and owners as needed on various projects to coordinate project designs and requirements.
  • Conducting field surveys on various projects.
  • Conducting site visits to witness construction progress.

Specific qualifications for the Electrical Engineer role include:

  • B.S. degree or higher in electrical engineering or similar discipline from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of electrical design experience in electrical power systems for large facilities including government and commercial construction projects.
  • Experience working on 3 – 5 projects simultaneously, in varying capacities and different phases/stages of development.
  • Must have a PE (Professional Engineer) license and willing to seek reciprocity in Wisconsin.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code), IBC (International Building Code), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes for commercial buildings and systems.
  • Proficient in the latest versions of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.  Knowedge of Revit is also preferred.
  • Ability to perform field survey work.
  • Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Approximately 5% overnight travel.
