Porter and Chester Institute is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Financial Aid for our Connecticut and Massachusetts campuses. Travel is required.  The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for providing direct service to students and their families in regard to the financial aid process. You will also be responsible for advising them in all phases of the aid application and delivery system.  Further, you will assist in the development of a professional Policies & Procedures Manual, as well as a Training Guide.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications / Requirements 

  • High School Diploma/GED; Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of financial aid experience, including knowledge of and the ability to interpret Title IV laws and regulations, as well as USED policy guidance.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of demonstrated supervisory, management and leadership experience.
  • Must be honest and highly ethical.
  • Must maintain Compliance with all related laws, regulations and guidance, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • CampusVue (preferred) or other financial aid systems experience a plus.
  • Must have the ability to attend external professional development opportunities to maintain/increase your knowledge of the financial aid profession.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel between campuses, as needed.

 

Skill, Knowledge and Ability 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess excellent math and computer proficiency skills.
  • Solid customer service skills and the ability to convey financial aid information in a clear and concise manner to students, parents, colleagues and management.
  • Must be able to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Must exhibit progressively more responsible experience in the financial aid industry.
  • Demonstrated innovative problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail, with solid follow-up skills; must be highly organized.
  • Proficient PC skills; ability to use MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Federal financial aid laws, regulations and guidelines.
  • Must possess working knowledge of financial aid processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to prioritize work flow, manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work within time constraints, with focus on quality and ethical practices.
