Summary: Operates and maintains asphalt manufacturing plant, dispatches trucking fleet, orders raw materials (AC, Lime, Propane), and monitors material usage. Extensive travel within a three state region is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Maintain a safe working environment for all activities onsite; continually inspects work site surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, plant, and employees.
Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
Orders required material in advanced to complete assigned task based on construction schedule as provided by construction superintendent and/or project manager
Maintains yard logs and assists superintendent with plant log.
Adjusts controls to regulate the flow of materials and maintains the speed of systems.
Ensures the plant is operating at the proper temperature.
Ensures that the plant is operating in accordance with all applicable regulations
Performs repairs on compressors, motors, belts, and preventative maintenance such as greasing and corrosion control
Coordinates with construction superintendent/project managers with trucks and outside hires and collects outside truck timecards
Ensures accurate quantities are coded to the correct job and phase codes.
Assists in the disassembly, transport, and reassembly of portable plants.
Requirements:
Three years related experience with asphalt plants or crushing plants preferred.
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with clean driving history
Ability to obtain a certified scaler license
MSHA certification preferred
ASE Certified Preferred
Extensive travel required; per diem may be included
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell.
