Nature of Work

The Manufacturing Engineer’s main responsibility is to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods within the production area in accordance with Lean/5S procedures. This position actively troubleshoots and provides support to the engineering and production staff. This position also strives to maintain and improve quality by eliminating defects caused by product or process designs. This position reports to the Director of Operations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops, has built, and implements tooling, fixtures, and process documentation for automated and manual assembly processes
  2. Performs process time studies and design of experiments to improve process efficiency
  3. Troubleshoots issues that arise on the production floor
  4. Ensures product meets company quality standards
  5. Maintains and improves quality levels by eliminating defects caused by product or process designs
  6. Communicates company, plant, and product information with employees
  7. Determines and implements improvements in production process using lean and 5S practices
  8. Creates plant and equipment Layout
  9. Develops and implements solutions to manage and reduce production costs
  10. Plans, leads, and implements Kaizen activities throughout the production area
  11. Provides engineering support to staff and management
  12. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  13. Works with new product development to bring new processes and products into the facility and assist in the design of new products
  14. Qualifies and installs new equipment 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or commensurate experience
  • Minimum of 3 years prior related industry experience preferred
  • Prior experience within a lean/5S work environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with coworkers and management
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Auto CAD 2D
  • Possess broad knowledge in a mechanical and/or electrical disciplines
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • 5S and lean concepts
  • Microsoft office suite; including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
