
Branch Civil is the consolidation of sister companies Branch Highways and E V Williams. Branch Civil is a member of The Branch Group, Inc., an employee-owned (ESOP) company based out of Roanoke, Virginia, with regional divisions in Northern Virginia, Virginia Beach and North Carolina. Branch Civil provides full-service construction and design-build services for highways, airports, dams and site development for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential markets.
The Superintendent is jointly responsible with the Project Manager for the overall success of the project. They are also responsible for meeting schedules, controlling costs, and managing manpower and equipment on assigned projects (if applicable). The Superintendent will provide continuous hands-on field supervision to all construction operations, including subcontractors and other construction related personnel. This includes directing them in the planning, scheduling, and execution of work on time, within budget and with high standards of workmanship. The Superintendent will attain or exceed profit goals and promote workplace safety, while promoting a positive image on every project they lead.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Master’s License in related trade (if applicable)
- Working knowledge of standards, specifications, codes, regulations and laws
- Knowledge of construction techniques
- 8-10 years’ experience in construction, with 3-5 in a supervisory position
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
Responsibilities:
- Builds project in accordance with all project contract documents, plans and specifications while ensuring compliance with all building codes and local ordinances; confirms permit requirements, and documents inspections in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines
- Responsible for maintaining professional relations with Owner, Engineer and other members of the construction team and communicates major changes in the construction plan, schedule, means and methods or re-allocation of resources to the appropriate parties
- Develops job schedule with Project Manager/other company representatives that is consistent with company’s responsibilities and commitments and reviews schedule during the project to ensure deadlines are met
- Reviews and submits comments on detail budget, time restraints, cost codes, and purchase control prior to construction
- Manages day-to-day quality control of both company-performed/subcontractor work and ensures that work conforms to Contract requirements and company standards
- Implements on-site safety meetings and implements safety programs and is responsible for meeting all OSHA and VOSHA standards and the enforcement of Miss Utility policy for the entire project
- Handles recruitment, deployment and termination of hourly field personnel, as well as identifies, trains and develops employees for greater responsibilities and promotions
Working Conditions:
Individual works primarily in the field on active construction sites with irregular terrain and moving equipment. Subjected to outdoor weather and working near or adjacent to the traveling public.
