Position:
Pioneer Electric Cooperative has immediate openings for Journeyman Line Workers. Successful candidates must possess:
- Journeyman Lineman certification from a recognized training program, which includes completion of a minimum of four (4) years of progressive on-the-job work and technical training in all line craft work, and/or one year as a qualified lineman first class.
- Must be able to perform all types of overhead and underground distribution work on energized and de-energized lines.
Responsibilities:
- Performing diversified work in the construction, maintenance, repair, operation, removal and inspection of electrical distribution facilities, including substations.
- Routine work could call for heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. Involves sitting, walking, standing, pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching and handling.
- Involves exposure to oil, dirt, water and severe weather extremes. In addition, the job necessitates considerable climbing and major exposure to energized line hazards. Must be able to perform work by both climbing and from a bucket.
Candidates will be required to participate in on call work and be available for other unscheduled overtime. Candidates will be required to reside within a twenty-two (22) mile driving distance of their assigned crew headquarters. Relocation may be required.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a high school degree or equivalent
- Must possess Journeyman Lineman certification from a recognized training program
- Must possess a current Class A CDL

Compensation:
Current starting wage is $33.69 per hour. Increases to $34.53 November 2017, $35.40 in November 2018 – based on union contract.
