Performance Contracting M&V Engineer

Provide Legendary Service to internal and external customers while performing the following functions:

As a Performance Contracting M&V Engineer within Perfection Group, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to completing energy audits, developing and performing energy engineering tasks and analyses, and working with the design team. This will also involve site visits during all phases to ensure the installation, and develop test protocols to ensure performance for the life of the performance guarantee. Measurement and Verification (M&V) duties and analysis will be important tasks, form utility rate structure research to Metrix reporting for customer review and presentation. This position requires a dynamic individual with high energy, motivation, and an acute passion for developing sustainable energy solutions for the next generation of buildings and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise facility audits and utility analysis that identify energy/water and other conservation opportunities
  • Screen and qualify the feasibility of energy efficiency, renewable energy and other savings or enhancement opportunities
  • Collect utility, facility, operations, and other data needed to develop energy projects
  • Analyze utility data and utility tariffs, operating costs and associated expenses
  • Recommend energy conservation measures (ECMs), and prepare energy analyses of facilities and/or systems
  • Analyze blue prints to assess mechanical, electrical, and control systems and determine facility operational characteristics
  • Perform energy and operational savings calculations using custom tools, spreadsheets and/or energy-modeling software
  • Recommend energy-efficient design solutions and technology upgrades that are supported by accurate descriptions, measured and logged energy data, savings calculations, and cost estimates
  • Develop Measurement & Verification plans and protocols, commissioning protocols, and post-implementation Operations & Maintenance protocols
  • Implement Metrix measurement and verification analysis software
  • Coordinate the integration of design engineering, project construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent Operations & Maintenance procedures for energy projects
  • Drive the technical due diligence during the implementation phase. This will involve identifying known risks (i.e. technical, construction, price, schedule, environmental, warranties, performance guarantees etc.), determining the implication of said risks, and indicating how these risks can be addressed and mitigated
  • Oversee the engineering analyses and technical support work of project subcontractors
  • Support the Project management team as needed to ensure delivery of a successful project

 Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical is preferred) or similar technical experience
  • Advanced degree in engineering is a plus
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in energy analysis
  • Experience with building energy systems (e.g., HVAC, controls, lighting, and domestic water systems)
  • High proficiency in excel
  • Experience creating detailed energy model simulations is preferred
  • Assisting in developing reports for feasibility studies and proposals
  • PE license, or in process to acquire a PE license is preferred
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is preferred
  • LEED certification is a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
