Job Summary

The Driver Recruiter will coordinate and execute the full life-cycle of the driver hiring process; sourcing, selection, DOT compliance, initial on-boarding, and administration of all related documentation - for all Driver openings in the Midwest Region as well as the Southeast Region. Driver types include company drivers for jockey, local, regional, OTR, as well as owner-operators with experience in flatbed, intermodal, spotting and / or hazmat.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Sourcing:

  • Sources and processes employment applications.
  • Prepares recruitment materials and assists with employment ad placement opportunities to virtual job boards/newspapers/colleges etc.
  • Coordinates employment status to hiring managers and applicants.
  • Creates professional networking opportunities to increase candidate referrals. 
  • Tracks most frequently sourced positions and builds a corresponding talent bench of qualified candidates.
  • Processes applications and enters information into applicant tracking system (ATS) and Human Resource Management System (HRMS) when applicable.
  • Answers Employment Opportunity phone line and direct callers to the appropriate internal resource. 
  • Sources and recruits candidates by using databases, social media, etc.
  • Locates and participates in local job fairs.

Selection:

  • Screens candidates resumes and employment applications; Reviews and qualifies candidates in relation to application, track record/experience, interviews, assessments and G&D selection criteria.
  • Conducts, coordinates and/or schedules criminal background reports, employment verification, functional capacity assessment, physical and drug screen as applicable. Responsible for completing internally or with preferred providers.
  • Updates Applicant Tracking System (ATS) with requisite and candidate information frequently.
  • Responsible for notifying candidates of employment status in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
  • Conducts interviews using varied methods to filter and rank applicants.
  • Utilizes varied recruiting and selection strategies to coincide with organizational need/demand.
  • Assesses relevancy of applicant knowledge, skills,experience and professional aptitude.
  • Builds influential relationships with applicants during selection process; Acts as applicant point of contact.

 Administration:

  • Manages assigned requisites using applicant tracking system daily to ensure accurate metric reports.
  • Provides analytical and well documented recruiting reports.
  • Ensures all assigned applicant files are compliant, accurate and up to date.
  • Shares knowledge and skills with teammates and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitors and applies HR recruiting best practices.
  • Coordinates travel arrangements for new hires.
  • Prepares new applicant files.
  • Attends meetings related to Recruiting or impacts to workforce needs.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Onboarding:

  • Coordinate Orientation schedules for new hires, update Orientation informational packets (offer letters, maps, etc.) and notify all application parties of new hire Orientation date/info (e.g. HR Assistant, Hiring Manger, Recruiting, Trainers, etc.)
  • Assists in full cycle recruiting by onboarding of new employees.
  • Promote company’s reputation as “best place to work.”

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited institution OR 3-5 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • One (1) year of Driver Recruiting experience required. Three (3) years of experience in the field of human resources and/or recruiting preferred.
  • Verifiable success recruiting in the transportation industry desired
  • Intermediate knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, staffing laws and employment regulations on a local, state and federal level preferred
  • Ideal candidate will have a track record of successful staffing experience. High volume staffing experience preferred.
  • Must be an excellent communicator (both oral and written); comfortable speaking to groups
  • Intermediate computer skills, Microsoft Word (including: Email, Excel, PowerPoint and Routine Database Activity, etc.).
  • Experience working with tight timeframes; prioritizing and solid organizational skills.
  • Must be adaptable; effective in ambiguous situations, open to positive change, and willing to be flexible when priorities shift
  • Thirst for knowledge and continual learning/improvement are ideal.
  • Sales and Customer Service experience preferred.
