Smith-Boughan, Inc., a dynamic leading edge mechanical contractor in West Central Ohio is seeking a motivated, high energy and detail oriented individual for the position of Safety Coordinator.
The qualified person selected to join the Smith-Boughan team will be responsible for the development and implementation of ongoing field safety training and oversight of compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administer company safety program and organize and implement safety programs for new projects including required site specific training and testing as well as post-accident alcohol and drug testing.
Communicate with Client safety representatives to ensure site safety compliance through adherence to client safety and health programs, procedures and policies.
Formulate, initiate and manage all required employee and supervisor training.
Provide assistance to division, project and department management personnel to ensure compliance with all safety procedures and policies, accident and fire programs and drug testing requirements. Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports,etc.into unit and man hour figures.
Review all accidents and thoroughly investigate accidents that result in death, multiple hospitalizations, and/or major property or equipment damage.
Review all safety documentation/reports for accuracy and completeness; ensure all required documents are posted or forwarded to federal and state agencies per regulations and to company insurance carrier and safety compliance organizations per their requirements.
Represent company in all safety related hearings (OSHA, etc.). Perform periodic jobsite inspections and prepare reports.
Prepare safety related input for bid proposals.
Perform regular inspections of all company vehicles on a regular basis.
Chair the company safety committee meetings. Develop safety budget and assure expenditures do not exceed the budget.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
Education and experience requirements include: 4 year degree or equivalent, plus 2 years experience in the construction industry. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
