The SES is responsible for implementing, developing and evaluating safety policies and programs; manages and provides assistance and direction to our facility on a day-to-day basis, directing and coordinating environmental and safety activities including training and inspections; maintaining records, permits and emergency plans; making recommendations for improving policies and procedures.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate and implement the facility's industrial safety program and monitor actual or potential hazards in the workplace in accordance with prescribed procedures and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with HR, investigate all worker’s compensation issues. Develop programs intended to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries/illnesses.
- Administer safety training for all AIM employees with respect to company policies, practices and procedures; conducting continuous and annual training.
- Manages company safety committee; conducts routine surveys to determine the nature and extent of unsafe work practices and recommends corrective actions; coordinates safety communications with the company.
- Monitor safety action items, assign responsible party to take corrective action and maintain records for follow up.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies, including local fire department and the Department of Ecology.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program and ensure compliance with OSHA Right to Know program; understand the chemicals and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present on site, take steps to mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards.
- Perform periodic tours of AIM facilities to ensure continuing compliance and coordinate reaction to issues noted in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for providing expertise in environmental control; ensures that our facility and its processes are in compliance with current and evolving regulations; obtain operating permits in compliance with permit conditions.
- Environmental Compliance including: Wastewater Pretreatment, Hazardous and Special Waste Management, ISO 14001/18001, Storm Water Permitting (SWPPP), Air and Waste Management and Permitting.
- Ability and willingness to be trained as a Haz-Mat first responder and assume role of incident commander as needed.
- Interface with outside agencies, inspectors and consultants. (Fire Department, OSHA, Dept. of Ecology, etc.).
- Characterize wastes, arrange for disposal, and maintain traceable records. Lead waste minimization efforts. Insure safe and appropriate storage of waste and other chemicals in compliance with standards.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Education and/or Experience:
Prefer a BS degree in Environmental Engineering or other related discipline (Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, etc.).
Must have 2-3 years prior manufacturing experience in areas such as; Regulatory Compliance, Permitting, ISO Auditing, Pollution Control, and Prevention, interfacing w/ regulatory agencies, project management and administration.
