A.H. Harris & Sons, Inc. is seeking an experienced Designer/Drafter/Engineer to design and draft vertical and horizontal concrete formwork solutions for business customers in the heavy and highway, commercial, industrial and residential markets.  Most of your time with be spent working in our relaxed like-family Fairfield distribution center at 160 Fairfield Rd.

1. CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DESIGN EXPERIENCE IS A MUST (forming and shoring design experience is preferred)

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance to forming and shoring sales specialists in servicing area contractors, with an emphasis on vertical and horizontal concrete solutions.  
• Position will provide an opportunity to work on high profile projects in a company where work is distributed by region rather than by hierarchy.
• Assist field sales in review of plans and specifications for bridges, tunnels, parking structures, water treatment plants, high-rise buildings and other new construction projects.  You’ll work most closely with the other engineer in Fairfield and the four field sales reps in the region who specialize in selling forming and shoring solutions (Fairfield and Newington).
• Design, sequence and produce customized drawings for construction of concrete walls utilizing company forming equipment, accessories and computer-aided design (AutoCAD 2017).
• Help develop comprehensive material take-off and bill of materials (BOM) lists for respective projects.  
• Visit construction sites to analyze project-specific challenges and verify formwork is being erected according to plan.  These visits as availability permits or approximately once monthly.

Requirements:

• At least 1-3 years designing construction solutions is required, forming and shoring solutions is preferred.
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD (2010 or higher) and in reading blueprints.  
• Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering is a plus.  
• Authorization to work currently and lawfully in the USA for AH Harris.
