CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:   Concrete Assistant Superintendent

 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Assistant Superintendent will work on a construction team at a project site as assigned by the Division Manager.  The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for scheduling and executing project activities, ensuring implementation of quality standards through all phases of project construction as assigned.  The Assistant Superintendent seeks to develop an understanding of all procedures as related to means and methods of construction.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

The Assistant Superintendent must possess a four-year college degree in building science and construction management or a two-year associate degree with relevant, related prior work experience.  Normal physical requirements of the position include: sitting, standing, climbing, bending, lifting, keying, reaching, grasping, reading, speaking and listening.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

 The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to a Superintendent.  Normal inside contacts will include: all employees of CF Evans.  Outside contacts will include: existing clients, architects, engineers, building inspectors, and subcontractors.

Assistant Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Effectively schedules / executes project activities
  • Seeks to develop proficiency in managing subs / suppliers:
    • Ensures subs comply with quality standards
    • Follows-up with subs / suppliers to ensure successful task execution
  • Displays attention to quality / detail through consistent execution of punchlist / SOS items
  • Provides project management with key project progress / quality information in a timely manner
  • Ensures all project documentation / filing / follow-up is thorough, accurate and timely

Financial Management Responsibilities

  • Develops understanding of project budget
  • Seeks to identify opportunities to reduce project cost
  • Seeks opportunities to utilize onsite materials and resources to minimize additional purchases
  • Tracks time and materials accurately for change orders
  • Ensures communication with project manager prior to incurring cost expenditures in the field

Technical Skill Competency

  • Seeks to develop understanding of all procedures as related to means and methods of construction
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and use drawings
  • Develops ability to contribute trade-specific insight on various stages of construction process
  • Demonstrates ability to use relevant technology effectively
  • Shows thorough knowledge of safety policies / procedures

Client Development Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationship with owners, subcontractors, suppliers and other team members
  • Creates atmosphere of partnership with all stakeholders
