For over 65 years, McKenney’s, Inc has been providing Atlanta and the southeast with quality mechanical solutions to meet the needs of our customers. We are seeking an experienced Payroll Associate to join our team, working in a fast-paced, collaborative, high-energy environment.

The Payroll Associate participates in the day to day operations of the Payroll department.  Customer service, both internal and external, processing of routine payroll responsibilities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end), execution of significant department operations, and adherence to company policies and controls are the primary responsibilities of this position. 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Daily

Ensure proper payroll processing and disbursement controls are in place and functioning properly.

Meet company and Accounting department goals and deadlines as they relate to the Payroll department.

Maintain good communications with Accounting Department staff members.

Maintain relations with McKenney's Inc’s outside financial institutions as necessary paying special attention to any positive pay and stop payment issues that may arise.

Provide excellent support and communication to McKenney’s internal departments on payroll related issues.

Communicate with staff any changes in payroll procedures as it relates to Solomon system.

Process Manual Checks as needed.

Be an ambassador for the department.  Communicate to others our role in the Company.  Inspire and solicit compliance and cooperation from the organization, as necessary.

 

Weekly

Monitor and re-order payroll related supplies and forms as necessary to avoid interruptions in the timely operations of the payroll department.

Process weekly commission payments.

Process weekly payroll and 401k plan needs

 

Monthly

Investigate older, outstanding checks and resolve issues.

 

Annual and Other Responsibilities

Coordinate preparation and delivery of the annual payroll files to offsite storage.

Change and improve payroll processes and procedures as necessary to better match the needs of Accounting and McKenney's, Inc. requirements. 

Serve on various accounting department and McKenney's Inc special committees from time to time as a contributing team member.

Calculate and provide company safety department with each person’s safe hours for the Safety Calendar Year.

Calculate and provide company HR department with each person’s service time for the annual service awards.

Any other duties both within payroll and outside of payroll as deemed necessary by company management.  

Process company pay raises.

Process annual bonus check run.

Coordinate with Payroll Manager and Controller in providing information to independent audit firm.

Calculate semi-annual company vacation accrual.

Calculate semi-annual payroll budget information.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

At least 2 years of payroll experience processing full cycle, in-house payrolls with at least 500 employees, including compliance reporting in all jurisdiction.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and 10-key data entry

Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

Some college or an Associates Degree

 

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

 At least 1 year of union payroll experience

 Payroll experience in the construction industry with union employees.

 Solomon experience.
