Job Summary
The Benefits Analyst administers and coordinates the day-to-day WPS multiple benefit programs ensuring compliance with policies and procedure. Assist management to leverage these programs to attract and retain talent. This role is responsible for benefit administration, problem resolution, benefit open enrollment and recommend plan changes.
Characteristics and Responsibilities
Interpret and Administer Complex Benefit Plans (70%)
- Administer multiple complex employee benefit programs, including defined contribution, defined retirement plans, medical, Flex Savings Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), COBRA, dental, Long Term Disability (LTD), Short Term Disability (STD), Group Term Life, Additional Death &Dismemberment (AD&D), Telehealth, Supplemental Life, Paid Time Off (PTO), Leave of Absence (LOA), and FMLA
- Assist in administering enrollment for newly enrolled employees and during yearly open enrollment including development of communications materials, coordination of information sessions, and administration of enrollment changes within Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and with benefit vendors
- Counsel employees on existing benefit programs through telephonic and electronic email support
- Perform benefit file imports into payroll system from various sources and reviews and verifies data for accuracy explanations of the various benefit policies, making corrections as necessary
- Oversee the response to outside inquiries for information on benefits from multiple vendors, attorneys, insurance companies, etc. pertaining to current or former employees
- Enter newly eligible employees, additions, deletions and other changes on carrier web portals as necessary on a weekly basis
Plan Design and Reviews (5%)
- Maintain working knowledge of legislation affecting benefits programs and make proactive recommendations to management on possible updates or enhancements.
- Work with Benefits team to design, develop and implement an effective communication strategy and training materials to ensure benefit programs are understood and valued by staff
Auditing (25%)
- Administer existing benefit audits and create new audits as warranted
- Gather/disseminate benefits related statistics as requested by HR Management, Finance Department, broker, vendors, auditors, and/or external actuaries
- Assist with ensuring benefit compliance with the Service Contract Act (SCA) and other state and federal regulations
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure the protection of WPS hardware, software, information and data by complying with the company’s systems security requirements.
Qualifications
Work Experience
- Required - 2 or more years of experience in human resources
- Preferred - 2 or more years of experience working with employee benefits, Experience working with multiple benefit plans and benefit vendors and Experience working with HR Information Systems (HRIS) and analytical job skills
Education
- Required- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area
- Preferred - Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and Professional Human Resources (PHR) designation
