We are seeking an experienced accounting professional responsible for the company’s accounting activities. The position reports direct to the CEO.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
Full performance level accounting work includes complex analysis and reconciliation of financial information to include; but not limited to, bank accounts, financial statements, general ledgers, tax returns, and trend reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Primary Functions
Analyzes financial information to identify and resolve routine-to-moderately-complex problems, discrepancies, and errors in financial data and/or finance systems and ensures that data integrity is maintained.
- Analyzes financial information to include but not limited to bank accounts, billing statements, financial statements, trend reports, tax returns, etc. to identify and resolve discrepancies and to ensure data integrity is maintained; refers more complex issues to senior technical experts or managers and provides recommendations for corrective action.
- Analyzes and reconciles multiple General Ledger accounts to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate and resolves discrepancies found; refers more complex issues to senior technical experts with recommendations for corrective action.
- Monitors finance systems to ensure accurate entries are made by users; identifies errors and discrepancies; recommends corrective actions to users and as needed, unilaterally takes corrective action.
Performs a full range of financial activities to support management, staff, and customers
- Reviews financial activity and accrues expenses as needed in support of financial statements.
- Adheres to Government requirements and Agency standards for Financial recording keeping.
- Maintains professional development through continuing education, attending courses, seminars, workshops, and/or by reading professional journals.
Other Functions
- Assists in preparation of financial statements.
- Prepares tax returns, reconciliations and tax documents.
- Analyzes and tests systems that interface with the accounting system to ensure the integrity of accounting data.
- Perform payroll functions.
- Perform Cost Accounting and financial management for government and commercial contracts.
- Administrate and enforce time keeping systems and processes in compliance with DCMA and other auditing agency guidelines.
- Works with external auditors and the DCAA during financial audits.
Qualifications:
- BS in Accountant and/or Finance
- 5 years experience
- In-depth knowledge of CAS, GAAP, FASAB, and FASB. Experience with DFAR and FAR.
- Experience with DCAA compliance and audits.
- In-depth knowledge of QuickBooks and EFaact. Experience with Unanet desirable.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, to attend to details, prioritize many tasks, and to work under time constraints.
- Skill in using Microsoft applications.
- Strong background in earned value management, cost accounting principles and reporting.
- Experience working for a large or medium size government contractor is preferred.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance procedures to ensure data integrity and timeliness of the data.
- Analytical ability to identify problems and issues related to financial data.
- Ability to interact with people who have different values, cultures, or backgrounds.
- Good interpersonal skills, demonstrated by developing working relationships and networks with division/component/field managers and employees, staff, and colleagues.
- Well-developed customer service skills, demonstrated by anticipating and responding to customers’ needs in a manner that generates customer satisfaction.
