The Payment Poster is responsible for all aspects of the collections and payment posting process.  Responsibilities include documenting account activity, accurate posting adjustments and payments, reconciling the electronic funds transfer (EFTs) using the XIFIN software system and the Finance Department, reporting collector payments  and managing the electronic remittance advice and insurance correspondences.  Responsible for identifying and reporting payment trends or issues.  Interacts with third party payers, XIFIN and the Finance Department to resolve payment issues. Provides the highest level of customer service. 

SECTION I:  JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of payment posting and/or collections experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in XIFIN billing system preferred.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification

Medical billing certificate a plus.

SECTION III:  JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  1. Perform daily activities of posting and all zero pay explanation of benefits (EOBS) to accounts.
  2. Reconciling the electronic remittance advice with the payments received.
  3. Electronically post payments received via electronic funds transfer (EFTs).
  4. Refer improperly paid account for review and/or refund.
  5. Complete new client and payer adds in a timely manner to ensure timely processing of order entry and claims submission.
  6. Post denials, payments, and adjustments according to the Explanation of Benefits, and ability to audit and analyze the Explanation of Benefits to ensure accuracy of reimbursement and proper adjustments have been applied.
  7. Run Business Objects and XIFIN reports to report billing and reimbursement activities and statistics, and assist with auditing and financial reconciliations.
  8. Accurately document all account activity and correspond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  9. Comprehensive working knowledge of commercial and government payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements for billing and collections.
  10. Report to management, detailing accomplishments, areas for improvement, clear performance goals, and effectiveness of processes and systems.
  11. Communicates and works clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and written.
  12. Complete and maintain spreadsheets.
  13. Backup coordinator for Automatic Clearing House (ACH) process.
  14. Maintains current knowledge of all private and government payer billing regulations and policies.
  15. Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.
  16. Follow all MDxHealth’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  17. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

  1. Responsible for compliance to all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements for international, federal, and state requirements, including, but not limited to, California Labor Laws, OSHA, Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CMS), Americans Disabilities Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA/Omnibus), MDxHealth OIG Compliance Program, College of American Pathologists, California State Department of Public Health, New York State Department of Health, ISO 9001:2008, U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  (Refer to the MDxHealth Quality Systems Manual for a complete listing).
  2. Takes responsibility for supporting the College of American Pathologists Patient Safety Goals.
  3. Responsible for reporting to the College of American Pathologists any concerns regarding quality patient testing or laboratory employee safety that are not being addressed by MDxHealth.

  5. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times (HIPAA).
