We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Virginia Beach, VA office location and concentrate on growing our K12/Higher Education clientele.

A Senior Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of this work including but not limited to managing the relationship with the project Owner and Architect, business and client development, project scoping, technical design, regulatory approval, managing and directing production staff, design and construction budget management, as well as overseeing the bidding and construction administration phase. The projects may involve sensitive political or environmental concerns, project coordination with property owners, utility companies and local county and state agencies. The Senior Project Manager works for the Timmons Group Land Development Principals, however, will be required to routinely make independent decisions. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful management of assigned projects and the penetration of assigned client accounts
  • Responsible for marketing and client development, technical quality, profitability, schedule, project staff coordination, client communications, negotiating scopes and fees, billing and assistance in collection of fees when required, client follow-up maintenance
  • The Project Manager must: maintain superior relationships with each of his/her clients and cross-sell Timmons Group services which may fall outside of his/her direct professional expertise, and direct ongoing communication with Timmons Group Principals is essential
  • An ability to manage several mid-sized projects, multiple small projects or a single larger project simultaneously is required

Skills/ Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a scientific area and/or equivalent work experience
  • Professional registration (P.E., L.S., etc.) in one or more states in which Timmons Group conducts business is preferred
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in civil engineering related to public land development projects for K12/Higher Education clientele
  • 4+ years civil engineering project management experience
  • Must have a thorough understanding of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects at the same time
  • The successful candidate will design/manage portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and CADD technology and complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
  • Has experience in marketing and supervision of the technical work of others
  • Has a working knowledge of technical and office support software required to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Consistently presents a professional attitude towards clients and internal staff
  • Effectively communicates with others in the daily completion of tasks or assignments
  • Strives to achieve professional working relationships with others and shows a willingness to help others meet critical deadlines
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
