POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting and Information Systems Manager will partner with the Bituminous Roadways Chief Financial Officer to ensure that all Company accounting, finance, tax, and information systems needs are met timely and accurately. The Accounting Manager will supervise staff, perform a wide variety of accounting tasks, and oversee the effective and efficient use of the Company’s enterprise software system and other related technology.

Finance & Accounting Responsibilities

Direct Reports – Accounts Payable, IT Specialist

Accounting Oversight

  • Review customer billing and vendor payment transactions as necessary to ensure proper recording in the general ledger
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and record journal entries as necessary
  • Review job schedules with Project Managers to ensure accuracy of data
  • Analyze unusual transactions and assist staff with the proper recording of transactions
  • Monitor cash transactions and reconcile Company bank accounts
  • Back up Accounting staff as necessary
  • Look for opportunities to improve accounting processes

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Review financial statements for accuracy
  • Communicate results with internal and external parties
  • Work with CFO as necessary to improve financial reporting methods

Business Budgeting

  • Work with CFO to implement the Company budgeting process
  • Help build templates and models to be used in the budget process
  • Monitor results and work with Operational Managers on understanding results and taking action

Business Financing

  • Assist CFO in the design and acquisition of credit line financing.
  • Assist CFO in the design and acquisition of equipment financing.
  • Prepare documents as necessary to ensure compliance with all financing requirements

Taxes

  • Work with CFO on compliance with income tax code – oversee preparation of data for accounting firm
  • Prepare various tax reports as necessary – payroll, sales and use, gravel tax, etc.

 

Information System Responsibilities

Information Systems

  • Oversee the effective use of the Spectrum Accounting Information System
  • Acquire a working knowledge of software systems being used by the Company and the various data interfaces
  • Partner with functional Business Managers to leverage information technology
  • Provide supervision, direction, and support to the Company’s IT Specialist
  • Manage third party IT service providers working with Bituminous Roadways
