JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overall human resources strategy and implementation of structure, processes and practices necessary to continually elevate Johnstone Supply’s talent. He/she directs and structures the human resource functions to support the company’s culture, while complying with municipal, state and federal regulations.

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Sales.

Partners with executive team and senior management to continually evolve the human resources strategy for Johnstone Supply.
Manages and drives the human resources operational and tactical functions to ensure the human capital needs of the company will be met.
Assists in the design and implements compensation and employee programs that are market competitive and support long-term employee retention.
Designs, or participates in the design and establishment of organizational structures and staffing to effectively accomplish the company’s hiring goals and objectives.
Trains and mentors the management team to ensure programs, procedures and policies are enforced and carried out in a fair and consistent manner.
Designs and/or participates in the design, and implements succession planning and management development process to identify key performers who are upwardly mobile.
Develops and publishes human resources policies and procedures that are consistent with the goals, vision and culture of the company and compliant with municipal, state and federal regulations.
Oversees recruitment process and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
Maintains records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.
Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization.
Oversees paid time off (PTO), leave of absence, and employee assistance programs.
Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
Represents the HR department in the Business Continuity, Health and Safety, and Professional Development committee meetings.
Maintains understanding of labor laws, OSHA guidelines, and Johnstone best practices.
Administer and advise leaders regarding legal and regulatory compliance: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, OSHA, safety, etc.
Other duties as required.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY: Oversees the HR department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required. Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management preferred. Eight (8) or more years of HR Management experience. PHR or SPHR required.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of HR Information Systems.
Valid Driver’s License in good standing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Noise level in work space is moderate.
Moderate level of business travel between branch locations, and for applicable business-related trainings and conferences.
