
Kirlin Carolinas is a large scale commercial mechanical and plumbing contractor in the Raleigh/Durham area, with branch offices in SC, specializing in hospitals, R&D, plan & spec and design build. We self-perform HVAC piping, plumbing, and the installation of equipment associated with our projects throughout North and South Carolina. Our projects range from $1 MM to $30 MM mechanical contract value.
We are currently looking for a Fire Sprinkler Foreman to join Kirlin Carolinas, LLC.
Position Overview
The Fire Sprinkler Foreman provides support services to aid the Kirlin Carolina LLC—Fire Protection Division staff by performing a variety of duties listed below to complete projects and maintain future business growth.
Job Summary:
A qualified candidate for this position will be able to work independently on both Large and Small Fire Protection construction, installation, rebab, etc., projects, and oversee Field Staff maintaining Safety First always. Their experience will be a valuable contribution to the Construction, Engineering/Project Management Team. They will handle all aspects of a project including Field Supervision, Manpower Scheduling, Change Order and, Supervision and Training of subordinates. The Foreman is to provide support and documentation for Project Management and to supervise the installation of fire protection piping, valves and accessories for commercial and industrial applications. May be assigned to specific area discipline (i.e. submittals, drawings, etc.) or general management.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- All the qualities and abilities expected of a Foreman
- Be able to represent Kirlin Carolina LLC—Fire Protection Division favorably to clients and AHJ's
- Have a comprehension of all aspects of fire protection design, construction, installation, and application of codes and standards
- Be able to oversee all aspects and coordination of a Large, Multi-Year project
- Will be able to properly prepare and book change orders
- Will be versed in Viewpoint to assist in projects and billings, as well as invoice tracking
- Advocate Kirlin corporate policy and best practices
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with Project Manager on project status
- Performs other related duties as required
- Prepare required documentation for areas of assigned responsibility
- Copy and distribute documentation per procedures
- Receive data and compile summary reports of activities for management on weekly and monthly basis as required
- Assist in the research and prepare contract design change requests
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the project manager
- Review all submittals for conformance with contract documents
Qualification Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Exceptional Customer Service Skills
- Ability to work well with others and take direction
- Excellent troubleshooting skills — ability to identify issues and implement safe & effective solutions
- Minimum Education: Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent field experience
- Minimum Experience: 5+ years in Fire Protection
- Extensive knowledge of fire protection equipment, material, drawings and specifications, additional will be taught
- Good communication both written and oral and interpersonal skills will be essential for further advancement
- Working knowledge of office skills, Microsoft Office and email
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to be a Team Player and work in a professional environment

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment and Field Environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, scanners, and photocopiers. When in Field, on Construction Site, all regards to Safety Policy must be followed accordingly, and all PPE equipment, shoes, vests, safety glasses, hardhats, etc., must be worn.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 50lbs routinely while climbing a ladder. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work tasks may include observational survey of existing conditions within or around buildings. Some Construction Site or Fabrication Shop visits may be required for this position.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Non-Exempt Hourly Position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless deemed otherwise by your supervisor. Must be on jobsite and ready to begin duties by starting time of each project worksite schedule. Additional Overtime as well as second shift or night work may be required.
Travel:
Travel to each jobsite will be required. Travel time is not included in daily work schedule.
Equipment / Tools:
Kirlin will provide all necessary tools needed to perform required job duties; to include but are not limited to Cell Phone, Power machine, Power tools, and company vehicle.
Company vehicle will be used solely for work purposes only. Vehicle condition is expected to be kept to a high-standard always both inside and out. A fuel card will be provided for company vehicle.
