Objective
Lead the development of new product designs and improvement to existing product performance that meet the needs of customer applications within the current and potential scope of Minnesota Rubber and Plastics worldwide product offerings. Validate design concepts through computer aided analysis and physical testing and provide technical support to customers through design, analysis and testing.
Duties
1. Designs product solutions that meet application requirements using CAD/CAE tools. This includes leading collaborative design project teams, performing finite element analyses, developing and maintaining CAD solid models and associated drawings.
2. Provides advanced technical support to customers and MR&P worldwide departments, including front line and higher tier direct support to customers and providing design recommendations, testing and analysis to all departments involved in the product life-cycle.
3. Supports sales efforts through direct contact with sales, customers and distributors. This includes proactive, direct contact through visits, technical presentations.
4. Validates product performance through physical product testing. This includes managing or performing the development of test specifications, design and build of test equipment, execution of physical tests, and the analysis and presentation of test results.
5. Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.
Relationship to others
Works closely with Customers and Sales to develop product solutions. Collaborates with and directs development/design projects with various department team members including Chemists, Engineers, Facilities personnel, Buyers, and Vendors.
This requires:
- General Engineering knowledge, product design & performance.
- Ability to design, fabricate and use test & measurement equipment.
- Ability to use CAD/CAE tools to design and validate products.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
-Minimum 2 years experience of custom component product design.
-CAD solid modeling experience required.
-Exposure to CAE tools (FEA, mold flow simulation, data analysis) desired.
-Proven ability to service, lead and interact with internal and external customers.
