The Cook assists with the preparation and cooking of a variety of different foods. Dishes must be cooked to specification which requires various preparation and cooking techniques. The Cook reports to the Head Chef. 

Essential Duties

• Prepare and cook a wide variety of food to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up stocking stations with necessary supplies.
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chop vegetables, butcher meat, prepare sauces).
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
• Assemble dishes according to recipes and specifications.
• Answer, report and follow Head Chef’s instructions.
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
• Stock inventory appropriately.
• Ensure food comes out simultaneously, in a high quality and timely fashion.
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Experience

• 1-2 years of experience as a line cook.
• Ability to prepare food using various methods.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Well organized.

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
