SUMMARY:

The Sand Plant Operator is responsible for all phases of safe, efficient plant operation and maintenance.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates computerized control panel to produce sand to specification. Works inside an enclosed control house to oversee processes. 
  • Supervises plant employees, production and distribution of product.
  • Communicates with drivers via radio.
  • Troubleshoots and communicates problems with ground crew.
  • Assists with machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Understands and implements Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and regulations.
  • Works with QC/QA Lab personnel to insure that sand is produced to job specification.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • May perform other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Computer skills and basic knowledge of computer operation are required, with ability to learn plant control systems.
  • Previous sand and/or aggregate production experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
  • Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
  • If required to drive, must have a valid driver’s license and be able to be qualified as a company driver.
  • RK Hall, LLC conducts post-conditional offer background check, fitness for duty evaluation, and pre-employment drug testing.

  • Demonstrates good performance, safety and attendance.
  • Demonstrates proper lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling techniques.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors and other employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision. Provides guidance, leadership, and training to other employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain MSHA, OSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
  • Demonstrates the ability to report employees time correctly.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

 

Individuals wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy.  Protective equipment that may be required for this position includes, but is not limited to:  Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, High Visibility Safety Apparel, Fall Protection, Gloves, Hearing Protection as needed, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection as needed,  Safety (hard toe) Shoes.
