We are currently seeking an On-Call Marine Operator to join our growing team! 

Position Overview:

Be responsible for the Safe and effective navigation and operation, of various types of response vessels in the support of planned and emergency response projects. Operate response vessels for deploying, retrieving and working with oil containment boom and various other pieces of equipment. Operate self-propelled oil skimmers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety and job related equipment is in good working order at all times.
  • Safely operate response vessels during deployment, towing, and anchoring of oil spill containment boom and other equipment.
  • Have working knowledge and understanding of all customers “Safe and Effective Threshold Determination Report” as provided to NRC by our customers.
  • Conduct ongoing training for Deckhands in seamanship skills including: “rules of the road”, and basic navigation techniques.
  • Maintain all vessel equipment in good working order and ensure that vessel is clean, well-stocked with supplies and spare parts at all times.
  • Completion of all job-specific, employee related NRC paperwork including Vessel Logs, and Daily Tailgate Safety Meeting Forms.
  • Assist in other types of spill clean-up activities as needed or available. These duties may be land or marine based for both planned and emergency response project work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1+ years in the maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in marine activities including navigation, close quarter maneuvering, anchoring, towing, pumping, and oil transfer.
  • Must demonstrate ability to operate a small boat for deploying, retrieving and working with oil containment boom, and ability to run oil skimmers.
  • Must have ability to conduct basic maintenance and troubleshoot small workboats and skimmers.

 

Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
