CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:   Superintendent

 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Superintendent will lead a construction team at a project site as assigned by the Division Manager.  The Superintendent will be responsible for scheduling and executing project activities, and ensuring implementation of quality standards through all phases of project construction.  The Superintendent demonstrates an understanding of all procedures as related to means and methods of construction.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

The Superintendent must possess a four-year college degree in building science and construction management or a two-year associate degree with relevant, related prior work experience.  Normal physical requirements of the position include: sitting, standing, climbing, bending, lifting, keying, reaching, grasping, reading, speaking and listening.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Superintendent reports directly to the Division Manager.  Normal inside contacts will include: all employees of CF Evans.  Outside contacts will include: existing clients, architects, engineers, building inspectors, and subcontractors.

Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Effectively schedules / executes project activities
  • Plans ahead, both short and long term, with the end in mind
  • Tracks schedule / ensures monthly management review
  • Manages proactively by using the 3 week look ahead schedule
  • Demonstrates proficiency in managing subs / suppliers:
    • Ensures subs comply with quality standards
    • Follows-up with subs / suppliers to ensure successful task execution
  • Establishes and ensures implementation of quality standards through all phases of project construction
  • Upholds and supports all company policies, including SOS
  • Ensures effective organization and tracking of onsite project related files and information
  • Ensures all project documentation / filing / follow-up is thorough, accurate and timely

Financial Management Responsibilities

  • Manages project budget responsibly
  • Seeks to identify opportunities to reduce project cost
  • Teaches cost control approaches and techniques to others
  • Shows understanding of financial impact of all decisions
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce project cost
  • Seeks opportunities to utilize onsite and company materials and resources to minimize additional purchases
  • Tracks time and materials accurately for change orders
  • Ensures communication with project manager prior to incurring cost expenditures in the field

Technical Skill Competency

  • Familiar with all procedures as related to means and methods of construction
  • Displays intimate knowledge of project drawings and specifications
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and contributes to scope development and review process
  • Demonstrates ability to use relevant technology effectively
  • Shows thorough knowledge of safety policies / procedures

Client Development Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationship with owners, subcontractors, suppliers and other team members
  • Creates atmosphere of partnership with all stakeholders
