Position Description
An IT Intern with C. S. McCrossan will be responsible for assisting the Company IT team on various technology related projects specifically tailored to the construction industry. While most of these projects may involve deploying off-the-shelf or open source technology solutions, there are projects where the intern will be required to work closely with the IT team to research potential solutions that address a real-world business problem. The IT internship is expected to last approximately three months.
Students will gain on-the-job experience in a variety of technical disciplines that include but are not limited to:
- Systems analysis & design
- Web and software development
- Systems integration
- Data science and data mining
- IT infrastructure management and security
- IT Project management - Agile project methodology
Qualifications:
To be considered for this Internship program students must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in a technology program at any degree level, and meet the following requirements:
Minimum qualifications
- Passionate about creating and implementing information technology solutions to solve challenging business problems.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Candidates should be self-motivated, disciplined, and detail oriented. Should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow and document technical processes as they relate to business processes.
- Ability to learn and apply troubleshooting methods to resolve various issues including hardware, software, and application
- Capable of confidently handling multiple tasks, each with differing priorities and timelines.
- Strong technical aptitude including understanding of software development principles.
- Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment, needs and requirements.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Must have completed at least one project or class that has focused on implementing Data Structures and Algorithms.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with various software systems.
- Familiarity with at least two modern operating systems (e.g. Unix/Linux, Windows, Mac OS)
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking.
- Knowledge of at least one C-based programming language (e.g. C, C++, Javascript, Java, Python).
- Experience with building simple websites and web-based services.
