Safety Facilitator

ROLE:

Responsible for facilitating a system that addresses at-risk behaviors in order to prevent workers from injury. Act as the plant safety leader in the absence of the Safety Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The tracking and entering of all monthly Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) observations that come in
  • Addresses and takes action on BBS concerns (if needed)
  • Prepares and publishes mid-monthly and monthly reports on results
  • Addresses daily employee concerns
  • Assists or leads incident investigations
  • Schedules/conducts investigation with foreman, injured employee, documentation, follow-up
  • Facilitates ergonomics program; performs/conducts ergonomic assessments, training, manages database of ergonomic activity
  • Demonstrate safety awareness as a priority objective
  • Communicate and enforce that safety is the #1 company objective
  • In accordance with company goals, must adhere to high standards of performance for self
  • Provides BBS training to all employees (Classroom instruction)
  • Safety compliance auditing
  • Will assist the plant Safety Manager in near miss and safety suggestion follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess necessary computer skills, which includes all Microsoft programs
  • Must possess and demonstrate leadership ability; to include the following:

  • Must be sharp in recognizing at risk behaviors/situations throughout the entire plant

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree or actively pursuing a degree in a field, which is deemed relevant to the position
  • Foundry/Leadership training
  • Kaizen training
  • BBS Program training
  • Ergonomics training
  • Must acquire general knowledge and exposure to all operations of the plant (Melt, Core, VMM, Millroom, and Maintenance)
  • Must acquire knowledge of safety policies/procedures for the department
  • A working knowledge of the ISO/TS standards as necessary
