POSITION OVERVIEW:
Position is responsible for properly fastening the panels of drywall to the wood or metal interior framework of a building; cutting the drywall to fit and the metal and wood studs to size; and finishing by applying drywall trims.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Regular and predictable attendance –The scheduled working hours and days for this position vary
- Drywall Installation and Framing Process – Position is completely responsible for the professional work involving: the framing of walls and ceilings using light gauge and structural steel studs; cutting the panels as needed for doors, windows, electrical outlets, lighting, HVAC and plumbing fixtures; carrying and accurately installing the drywall to size (with limited waste); attaching the drywall to the walls; cutting metal and wood studs to size; and applying drywall trims.
- Insulation – Employee is responsible for insulating wall and ceiling cavities as required with Fiberglass, Mineral Wool, or Rigid insulation; cutting with a utility, or filet knife is required.
- Acoustical Ceilings – Employee also cuts and installs metal ceiling grid, with metal, wood, mineral fiber, or drywall ceiling panels. Employee is also responsible for cutting to precise dimensions and layout per the plans for lights and mechanical fixtures.
- Clean-Up – Employee also protects surfaces, trimmings, fixtures and windows, etc. as he/she works through and completes the drywall hanging job. Employee is responsible for clean-up of the work site and putting tools and equipment back in its proper place.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ‘REQUIRED’ FOR THE JOB:
- Drywall Hanging, Framing, Insulation, Carpentry and Acoustical Ceiling experience is required to meet the level of expertise for this role as follows: Apprentice: 6 Months – 4 Years’ experience; Journeyman: 4+ Years’ experience.
- Must be able to read simple construction prints and to accurately estimate quantity of materials required if necessary for a particular job.
- Must know how to measure correctly to cut drywall to size and cut holes for required openings.
- High school education or (GED) or equivalent is requested, but not required.
- Must to able to provide own reliable transportation to and from work.

- Must be able to work independently or with a partner, if needed to handle heavy panels, especially for ceilings.
- Willing to complete and apply learnings from a company safety orientation program to work.

- Ability to raise questions or concerns in a timely, proactive manner regarding the job assignment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
- Position requires full range of upper extremities in the manipulation of materials used in work processes, combined with simultaneous mental and muscular coordination.
- Must be able to lift 60-70 pounds on a regular/constant basis and occasionally lift 110 pounds.
- Must be able to push/pull 20+pounds on a regular/constant basis, reaching/pushing above and at shoulder height. Will also be required to reach and lift overhead on a continuous basis.
- Ability to stoop/bend/stand/walk is required on regular/constant basis.
- Climbing scaffolds and ladders of various heights is also required on a regular basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work environment can consist of indoor office/ tenant space with lack of heating in summer, and only temporary heat in the winter months with moderate noise.
- On occasion, the employee can be exposed to some air contamination (dust, paint fumes, smoke, disagreeable odors, airborne particles, etc.) and toxic or caustic chemicals in the work environment.
- Frequently, the employee will work above ground level where the possibility of falling exists.
