Job Title: General Construction Helper
Reports to: HVAC Supervisor
Summary/Objective:
Ideal candidate will be working under direct supervision as they perform a variety of day-to-day activities in an organized manner. Daily activities include organizing and preparing materials, installation of pipe or sheet metal, unloading and loading materials, reading plans and specifications, and operating tools and machinery. Assists with daily tasks, as guided by experienced technicians.
Essential Functions:
- Under direct supervision, performs skilled trades’ duties, to include inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Assists with set up of tools and equipment
- Transports tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, hand truck, or heavy motorized truck
- Furnishes experienced technicians with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
- Cleans work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary
- Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and devices
- Uses knowledge of basic tools and materials
- Polices the grounds regularly for trash and debris
- Performs prescribed tasks and possesses the ability to read directions for work
- Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility (Direct Reports Y/N) N
Required:
- Ability to read and interpret documents and the ability to write routine reports
- Must possess basic math skills and the ability to read measurements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Works well in diverse employee environment
- Works well under immediate supervision
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing to travel to offsite locations as needed
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance, and must be able to work weekends, some holidays and flexible hours as necessary
- Must have a satisfactory driving record, criminal record, and the ability to pass a drug screen
- Requires overtime as needed
Preferred:
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous technical experience
- Career-minded individual interested in long-term construction employment
Travel:
May require infrequent travel
